Fresh off the Equinox for a June 2, 2018 7 night sailing to the Western Caribbean. Ports were Key West (yeah!), Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Costa Maya (aka Mahahual). Cabin 6124 - veranda - forward.
Us - late 40's - 25 cruises - last 4 on Celebrity and 1 on Oceania. Others on RCCL, NCL, HAL and Carnival (ugh).
Cabin - clean, steward was Mani. Standard size if you have been on other Solastic Class ships. Bed was near the balcony door. This was a flip from our December cruise on Eclipse. I frankly did not think I would like it but I did as it allowed you easier access to the closet - which I found awkward on Eclipse. Room was clean and well maintained by the Cabin steward - only comments - We paid for what I thought was unobstructed view cabin - well - there is a ledge at the bottom of the balcony floor that "jets out" - maybe 3-4 feet (?) and blocks your view from looking down. If I had known that I would not have paid the extra money for the "upgrade". Also you look to the left and see the bridge - not a big deal and the cabin 3 down from ours jets out so you have more of a view of them. Also the curtains had stains on them as did the sofa seat. Not big deals, but the ship is in need of a bit of maintenance. However, that said, I would book Equinox again no hesitation. Not just this cabin. Also we had to ask for privacy sign for door and the Celebrity "bag" that seemed standard on other cruises (so you could take your towels, etc to shore). Also ice is on request only - though we requested and were brought it each night no problem (extra tip was given).
See above.
Love love Key West!! Such a beautiful and fun port. We in the past have ridden bikes around the island (which is recommended) - this time we learned about the free public bus - Duval Loop - stop close to cruise port - took it all over - Southern Most Point, Hemingway House, etc. Had to stop at Sloppy Joe's of course!
The newish cruise port of Costa Maya has shopping, drinks, food, pools, etc. It is nice, but we took the shuttle $3 pp into town (took 2nd stop) - avoid the hawkers at the 1st stop - love Mahahaul. It is a peaceful (though getting larger) Mexican beach side town that still maintains that "feel." We had lunch at a wonderful place - Nohoch Kay - restaurant and bar right on the beach. Yummy seafood.
