We chose Silverseas as part of a 5 week tour of Canada and Alaska to celebrate a big birthday for both my husband and I. We like to experience lovely places and have a bit of luxury occasionally but we also like the casual lifestyle so we were a little concerned that we would feel out of place on this particular cruise ship. We needn't have worried as we enjoyed every moment of it. Our stateroom (balcony varanda 3) was spacious and bright with a walk in wardrobe and a mini bar which was quickly filled with our favourite drinks. Everyone has a butler, which again we were unsure how we would feel about because we like to do things for ourselves. However our butler Adolf was truly delightful and immediately made us feel as ease. He always had a smile for us and greeted us with our names whenever he saw us around the ship, constantly asking what he could do for us. We used the breakfast buffet in the morning and the restaurant for dinner in the evening and the food was delicious it both. The waiters were attentive and were keen to make sure we were happy with our meals. Entertainment from the voices of Silversea, Elkaterine the pianist, Daniel the guitarist and the cruise director kirk was lovely. We really enjoyed our time on the Silver Shadow and we definitely be choosing Silverseas again in the future.
