We were really looking forward to this 6th cruise for us. Overall it is a very nice well laid out ship but the staff did not make this cruise an enjoyable experience. Embarkation was OK but very busy. The cabins were ready almost straight away. We missed one of our ports because of a cyclone and the captain dealt with this situation very well. The excursions were expensive as always with big buses. We had a trip to a pontoon on the barrier reef which frankly was a complete waste of money and did not live up to the description in any way, there was so many people on that pontoon. Our waiters in the main dining room were very good and friendly. The foil overall was good but lacked a bit of wow factor. We had a table for eight with four Brits and four from the US and we enjoyed all the company. We did meet a few other staff on the ship who you felt were happy to do their job but there seemed to be a lot who were there to do the minimum and certainly did not promote the holiday spirit. It really did have an effect on our overall cruise experience. We are experienced cruises and have never seen staff who only seem to smile when speaking to each other and not the passengers.

  • Australia Zoo
Well worth a visit. Really clean tidy and well run zoo. We booked the shorter trip and had plenty of time to see all including the crocodile show.

  • Barrier Reef
The barrier reef on a pontoon in our opinion is a waste of money. Far too many people on the pontoon, the equipment offered was OK but not too sure of the hygiene routine. The whole pontoon needs a good clean. Only one dirty toilet available for 250+ passengers. Observation and submarine windows filthy so not able to view adequately. Lunch was OK but not much food available. Staff were happy to help with equipment use but were really more interested in eating. They moved passengers from seats so they could sit and eat at lunch and again at the end of the day. May explain why there was not much on the buffet for our lunch. Their plates were heaped and they ate as if they were starving. Two hour trip back to the ship It then took almost an hour to tie up and we were eventually able to disembark. I would never recommend this excursion.

Lovely countryside hoped to see kangaroos but didn't manage it. Really enjoyed the wineries but there could have been a bit more wine.

A busy city but Darling Harbour and the Opera House are really worth a visit.
