This cruise was part of a self drive holiday in Canada. Ended in Vancouver to board the ship. We had previously sailed with celebrity many years ago when we were new to cruising. At that time we thought it was on par with our main goto cruiseline P&O. We had read some very negative reports about this ship, but we always go with an open mind. After a pleasant walk from our lovely hotel(lHermatage on Richard Street) we arrived to large queues at Canada Place cruise centre. It did not take that long until we were through immigration and onto the ship. It helped being Concierge Class. We were directed to the Trellis dining room for a very pleasant lunch. We tried out our classic drink package, which was more than adaquate for our needs. Cabins were ready about 2pm, ours was very comfortable, plenty of storage, good sized shower. Arthur our excellent cabin steward introduced himself, offered us the use of a kettle, which we did not bother with. He was exemplary throughout the cruise. After a bit disjointed muster, we explored the ship. Really lovely, very comfortable loungers on deck, spa area with “healthy food” cafe. Very nice theatre. We were feedom dining, no need to book, saw the first show at 7 pm then made our way to restaurant. Always had a table for two, though they were close together. Always around the same area so had regular waiters, again a credit to the company. Food was great, you could have as much as you wanted, the green beans seem to be constant across cruiselines! The buffet had lots of different stations, but never had a pleasant experience as it was always so busy. The food offered was good, usually had breakfast, but we usually went down to spa cafe for lunch, which was quieter, though a limited menu, the toasties were fresh made, salads tasty. What we saw in the way of shows were very good, American comedians, one excellent the other not to our taste. Excellent house band. Lots of the usual to cruiselines art auctions, jewellery auctions, etc. The scenery was what we went for and did not disappoint. The Hubbard glacier were the captain just let the ship move round so we all had a view was beyond expectations. The helicopter deck was opened for guests to have a good view. We just found a quiet area round the deck which we had to ourselves. Disembarkation was fine, we had an evening flight, left our luggage at the luggage place in the cruise centre, good price. Now for some wee negatives, the constant sell of the specially restaurants also to upgrade to a premium drinks package. The cruise director was a bit over the top, though I’m sure he’s was loved by others. The entertainment that was held either side of the grand staircase, not a good venue. Expensive excursions, we did our own for a fraction of the price. We could go on, but We are sure you are all bored by now! At the start of this we mentioned our usual cruiseline ( though we have been with several others) . This time we really saw a difference in the two companies, have to admit that Celebrity have the edge. But they do cost a fair bit more. Would travel with the, again if the destination and price was right.

Exceeded expectations
