We were very disheartened by our experience on the Golden Princess. While the places we went to in Alaska were beautiful and the sights we saw were unforgettable, the ship itself turned us off to the Princess Cruise line forever.

The ship was in need of serious updating; and not just cosmetic updating. Workers were constantly on the ship during our voyage trying to fix different issues. One of which included a horrific sewage smell that surrounded us for the entire week. Another huge issue was the fact that the ship was leaking. No matter where you went throughout the ship, you'd find water dripping from the ceiling, down the walls, etc. There was a giant fan trying to dry out the carpet in our hallway for the majority of the cruise (the floor never dried, because the ship never stopped leaking). There were even leaks in the dining rooms! Thankfully there were no drips in our cabin and other than needing some serious cosmetic updating, our cabin seemed to be in good shape.

Our other big issue with this cruise was the food. As a person with dietary restrictions, I felt like there were not a lot of options for me. I have an allergy to dairy and I don't eat a lot of meat. I was, therefore, very restricted and basically ate soggy lettuce salads and melon for most of the week. I did appreciate that the chefs tried to be accommodating, but I felt like there should definitely be more options (especially when it comes to fresh fruits and vegetables).
