We booked this cruise while we were on the NCL Dawn last year during a western Caribbean cruise. We've always booked suites or the Haven (when available). This cruise was no different. We had a forward facing penthouse with a huge balcony/deck (9502).

We were a little apprehensive about this cruise because the Star was coming out of dry dock for some major renovations. We were worried that this would be the shake down cruise to fix all the little problems that pop up after a renovation. We were not too far off.

Embarkation went smoothly in Barcelona. no major problems. We were taken to Madurno for lunch while our rooms were readied. while in the restaurant, someone forgot to tell the cooks how to use the ventilation fans. The place filled with smoke. Not a good start. Read more
