This was our first cruise and we chose it because we were excited about Ovation of the Seas, as it is the biggest and most modern ship sailing out of Australia. We were not disappointed! Everything about this ship wows, and the shows are fantastic. I loved the cocktails! we had the drinks package, which is very worth it, some say they couldnt drink that much but if you choose expensive cocktails every time (and we did!) its worth every penny. Australians beware the coffee is awful everywhere, as Americans cannot do coffee. The best you can get is the paid patisserie down on deck 5. Our favourite place to eat breakfast (as we disliked the Windjammer) was the Solarium, which is perfect if you are an early bird. Don't bother if aren't though as its popular!

We did not go much on the MDR for dinner or lunch, everything food wise is quite American, although Aussies, DO try the Philly Cheese Steak, its really good. But we did love the specialty restaurants! Wouldn't do Wonderland again, though its fun to try.

I got grossed out eating a chicken liver in the 'dirt' garden, but other than that eveything was tasty. Jamies was fantastic and a must. Dont stop at one entree order 3 of them, you are allowed its included in the cost! Chops is also very nice if you are a steak fan, though we found the lobster up in the Solarium better than in Chops! The biggest surprise was the Panda noodle place up on the pool deck - amazing food, and very cheap! You can get a ton of chicken wings for a very reasonable price here, great for the kids, and we found the snacks and sliders in Michaels Genuine Pub to be great value. Make sure you get the pigs ears in early as they run out because they're so tasty.

It was great! we were on the 'hump' and we loved it. Fantastic shower on Ovation. This is a really nice cabin not to far from the lifts.

Port Reviews

Wellington

The Windy City! fabulous, we really loved Wellington, the botanic gardens are fantastic.

Picton

oooh this is such a great place, picton is charming, but the marlborough wine country is AMAZING. this one is important to book a winery tour!

Dunedin

Dunedin, its so beautiful and there is SO much to do here, you'll never do it all. Highly recommend Larnach Castle, it is truly amazing. Cadburys isn't worth it do not bother, its not even a factory anymore just a shop.
