Jewel of the Seas was a beautiful ship with friendly staff. The public spaces of the ship (e.g., Theater, Dining Rooms, Pool Decks, Lounges) were elegant and mostly big enough to hold a sizable number of the customers. Our room was spacious enough and our Stateroom attendant provided incredible service. Same service quality was true of our servers in the Tides Dining Room each night. We also really enjoyed our fellow diners at Table 402 and plan to keep in touch with them.
The entertainment was above average but there were a few performances that could have been better, including a ventriloquist act that was pretty disappointing. Other activities like stargazing at night and some of the "Battle of the Sexes" and poolside competitions were hilarious.
The ports of call were mostly great. Rome was a little disappointing, not because of the sights, but because there are too many pickpocketers and aggressive vendors vying for your attention on the way to the Coloseum or the Palatine Forum. We felt constantly "on edge" as a result. Overall, the days at sea were very relaxing and enjoyable given the wealth of activities. Mykonos, Rhodes, and Santorini were beautiful and unique experiences while Athens was as expected for a busy, capital city. The Amalfi Coast may have been the ultimate highlight of the trip so it was great to save it to the end.
