I had a desire to see as much of the Mediterranean as possible on this cruise. The Med has always been one of the places in the world that I wanted to see. My wife allowed me to pick this trip because she knew it meant so much to me. NCL offered the best itinerary for what I wanted. It covered parts of both the eastern and western Mediterranean.
We spent the first 2 days of our vacation in Barcelona before boarding the ship. What a beautiful city. So much culture, history, architecture, and personality. I think we may try and go back some day.
We are past cruisers with NCL and have been to the Caribbean, Alaska, and now the The Med with them. The NCL Star was great. Many of the staff went out of their way to make our experience a lasting one. Special thanks go out to our cabin steward, Ariel, and our Butler Joseph. We are definitely not “Butler” people but Joseph made us feel comfortable. He helped me put together a special cabin dinner for us to celebrate my wife’s birthday while we were in Greece. The only real complaint we had, if you want to refer to it as a complaint, was this one piano player in the Gatsby lounge that played the piano and sang MUCH TOO LOUD. The ambiance in this particular lounge was one that required a softer touch and entertainment that soothed instead of something that requires earplugs.
Spacious, comfortable, and a great location to be as you enter each port. Closet area was a little cramped but we quickly learned that both of us could not be trying to choose clothes at the same time. Our cabin steward, Ariel, was the best. Courteous and helpful with everything we needed.
What a beautiful place. I will definitely return here some day. We did not ride the donkey’s up the mountain, but instead walked. Engaging people and a picturesque place.
We did not spend time here but needed to fly home that day. However sailing into Venice is an experience to behold. The ship was taken in by tugs and we traveled down the Grand Canal through the center of the city. It was awesome!
The money here is amazing. By that I mean the feeling of money with the boats, cars, and homes. We toured the palace and learned more about King Rainier and Princess Grace. We happen to be in port the day before the big auto race and there were race cars everywhere. A beautiful place!
