I took the identical 7 day Western Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona in May of 2015 and again 3 years later in May of 2018. First of all the food: The Garden Café did not have plates of smoked salmon offered at breakfast like it did in 2015. I remember piling unlimited amounts of it on my plate for breakfast each morning. There was basically no salmon at all, just some tiny chopped pieces of salmon in a mousse cup. They have a smoked salmon bagel but that is only occasionally offered in their restaurant Taste on some days but the selection of breakfast items is quite extensive still and we did enjoy breakfast there.

For dinner there was hardly any seafood at all, just bbq'd shrimp skewers and salmon. The only time there was lots of seafood was on seafood night and on the last evening when they had mountains of prawns, huge sucullent mussels and clams. They were the most flavorful and juiciest mussels I had ever had. I had a steak at Taste one evening and it was really good, so was dessert. We also had dinner at the more formal Manhatten Room, we saw mainly older cruisers seated there. I had lamb but it was just slices of lamb, nothing special but the service was excellent. The most disappointing restaurant was Shanghai. The quality of the food had definitely gone down. Most of what we ordered was not freshly cooked, it tasted like leftovers, wasn't even hot and sizzling but only lukewarm and the pork was so dry and flavourless. There were only about 2 shrimp in the fried rice. The meal I had at Shanghai in 2015 was way better. Overall, its probably better to have dinner at the Garden Cafe if you want more selection of food. They make a huge beautiful speciality cake each evening in the Garden Cafe and there are always lots of delicious looking desserts.

The 3 of us had our own tiny Studio cabin for one. I thought it was ok but would have preferred brighter lighting over the sink area. Your bed is made around noon and you get a fresh bucket of ice in the afternoon which is great. I must say you never run out of towels! The cabin service was quite good. The shower stall is quite small and the water pressure was not that good but it was ok.

Cabin Review

Studio

The 3 of us each had our own studio cabin (100 square feet). The cabins are well organized so you don't feel too claustrophobic. I liked the white lighting that made you feel like it was daytime outside even though you had no window and it would be dark. I probably couldn't stay in this little cabin for more than 7 days as its kind of cramped although the pillows and bed was quite comfortable. You notice this humming noise the first night and it took awhile to fall asleep but by the 2nd night you get used to it and can fall asleep quickly. They make up your bed and change your towels before 1:00 pm and fill your ice bucket up twice daily which was nice.
