This was the worst cruise we have been on! 4hrs to board ship! no tea or coffee in dining room! compulsory gratuities 10euro pp per night!pay for shuttles to town! Never been compulsory on other cruises. No sweet wine with lunch/tea included in package. After 5days English Breakfast Teabags were like gold couldn't find them anywhere. The pushing, shoving yelling by the Italians was unbearable. Music on the back pool area was the same everyday with only 4 English songs played. Our tea seating was 8.45 with 3 lovely couples on our table served by wonderful waiters. The bistro areas were a challenge with people pushing in but the food was ok. The tour organisation was a shambles both waiting to leave and getting back with sometimes 5 buses arriving at the same time to board the ship. Didn't get on till after sailing time. One of our tours has a couple with mobility problems, we had to cut short our walking experience due to their incapability to keep up. They should not have been allowed to do the tour as it was all walking and we believe this person was air lifted for heart problems 4 days prior. Spent unbelievable amount of time in queues at the service desk, given wrong information, wrong name on replacement cabin card couldn't get off ship had to go back and replace it. Had to change cabins for re-positioning cruise, first room was deck above the dance floor absolute hell! music, yelling till 2pm. next room took 3 replacement cards for cabin card to work-had to go to service desk for each card.Cabin staff fantastic. Service desk is position near the piano area which made it almost impossible to hear and communicate with almost non English speaking staff. Our shore experiences made up for the ship experience.

The ship from hell!

Cabin Review

Inside Premium
Cabin IP 8360
Comfortable inside cabin with room to move around bed. Bar fridge, mirror, desk, drawers and 3 cupboards. The shower curtain needed to be longer to cover the lip of the shower base to stop the water from flooding the bathroom floor.
We prefer to have inside cabins to help us sleep.

  • Volendam Walking Tour
Back onto the bus leaving the windmills behind on our way to Volendam where we did a walking tour into the seaside town where we stopped for lunch. Then free time to explore more of this beautiful little town, back onto the bus for the journey back to the ship.

  • Zaanse Schans Windmills
Bus trip from the ship through stunning countryside to Zaanse Schans Windmills where we stayed for quite some time. Free entry to see the clogs being made and a windmill where the owner explained the operations of the windmill. We were then left to explore the site on our own.

We took the train from the port to Harwich where we met our friends and walked along the seaside beaches into town. Had lunch and enjoyed a stroll to the Pier and back to pick up the bus to port.

Bus trip through the beautiful country side to Rouen. Guided tour to the old town where we saw the memorial to Joan of Arc, through the cobble stoned streets to Rue du Gros Horloge and the courthouse. Rouen Cathedral and its two towers, and the square Place du Vieux Marche. A gorgeous medieval town to explore.

Shuttle from ship 7euro. Walked off ship onto port and picked up a taxi 120 euro for 4 for 3hrs return to ship. Turned out he drove us all over the place and showed us the sights for 4 hours. Absolutely amazing tour, he was so friendly and stopped whenever and where ever for photo opportunities and to see the sights, very informative. If you want a great tour with an English speaking guide contact Tiago Nobrega email tiagonunesnobregamil978@gmail.com he will not let you down, he does speak other languages as well.

Shuttle bus 13 euro from ship, found a cheaper one to town. Walked the town and did hop on hop off bus. Ticket was for a day. Gave ticket to my brother and he did it for free.

  • Galicia Walking Tour
From the dock we took a ferry over to the island. Was amazed to see eucalyptus trees all over the island, a monk bought back the seeds from Australia because he liked the trees. This was a relaxing walk around and up the island to its peak to enjoy the beautiful view over the Atlantic Island with time to walk back down and relax on the beach or continue on exploring the other side of the island.
