We chose this cruise because we got a great rate for our family of 4 and we thought we would try driving Cape Liberty rather than flying to Florida. Adventure of the Seas was as advertised with plenty to keep us busy all week with great shows, water slides, kids pool, Flowrider, ice skating, etc. It was a good thing that the ship had lots to do considering our itinerary had Coco Cay cancelled and had Port Canaveral as a "port" on our journey. Overall, RC could do a better job with several customer service and staffing issues but the fun is there. Below are the pros and cons of an enjoyable week with some very key disappointments. Pros - Embarkation and disembarkation were extremely smooth and well organized. Hats off to Royal Caribbean on this. - Food was great. Both MDR and Buffet were excellent with the exception of BISCUITS AND SAUSAGE GRAVY AT BREAKFAST. That was terrible and wasn't even close to the real stuff. If they can have ethnic food for everyone else in the world (fried rice, baked beans, etc.) then please try a little harder for the Appalachian folk. Otherwise, the meat and seafood was outstanding. Very well cooked and seasoned. Desserts were amazing, particularly Cheesecake. - Shows were awesome. The comedy shows were hilarious - we saw Jim David, ventriloquist Kevin Johnson, and Don Gavin. The Almost Elton John was great. We enjoyed the ice show and the dancers as well. Good variety and Chris Brown does a great job as Cruise Director. We thought he reminded us of Conan O'Brien a tad. - Flowrider, Water Slides, Rock Wall, Mini Golf, Ice Skating, Kids Pool, 2 Swimming Pools...you can't really get bored if you like to be active. Great for kids and teens. Cons - Itinerary. We knew when we booked that it was a little lacking. Port Canaveral is not really set up to be a "port" because of where AOS docked at CT 10. There's nothing within walking distance so you have to take a cab, uber, shuttle, or rent a car. The rental car places all close early and you have to take a taxi back to the ship. Nassau is ok but we had been there before. Seems like every cruise goes there. And, they cancelled ... - Coco Cay. We never saw it because it was cancelled because of weather. Instead, they sailed on to Nassau and got there at 5:30pm and everything was pretty much closed up for the day besides bars, which we were not interested in. There needs to be a better plan here in cases of bad weather. I know they're building a dock, but how about an OBC or something if they miss the island? This was very disappointing. - Disembark at ports. RC would advertise a time in port such as noon and then we wouldn't be allowed off the ship until 1pm or 1:30. This is misleading and should be corrected. It causes problems with arrangements made in port and planning. - Day 1 Staffing. We had to take our own luggage from the middle of the hallway to our rooms. No one was on duty until 1pm on Day 1 at any of the activities such as the water slides, rock wall, pools. We wanted to sign waivers and enjoy the activities but couldn't until after 1pm. MDR wasn't open for lunch on Day 1. - Guest Services. The front desk manager from Turkey (a heavy set bearded guy) is terrible and can't understand English very well. He is not professional and unintelligent. The Front Desk lady from Brazil, Marisol, isn't worth talking to. Has no interest in helping guests and is rude. RC needs to hire AMERICANS for this positions. - Prices on photos. $20 per photo. No discount ever offered aside from a $200+ package. This was a little expensive. - Cafe Promenade and hours of Buffet. The food there is terrible and left over from buffet or left there for days. We saw the same sandwiches and salads for multiple days. Pizza was the worst I have ever eaten - honest. Unfortunately, they shut down the buffet at 9:30 and you're stuck with this. RC should keep a burger, hot dog, etc. portion of the buffet open past 9:30. - Stateroom furniture. We had 2 doors and 1 drawer broken in our stateroom. The furniture was very beat up. When we arrived the toilet didn't flush. Maintenance needs to do a better job. Neutral - Kids program. Adventure Ocean for my 7 year old was good. She had a good time. Although, she was upset at times that they did not do the activities that they promised. They told us they do the activities that the kids vote on. Well, since there were lots of rowdy boys in her group, they played lots of gagaball and didn't do much science experiments. The teen program was almost non-existent due to attendance. The group that was there for most of the time resembled a bunch of juvenile delinquents. I felt bad for the staff - cussing, arguing, drama, excessive cell phone use.

  • Sea World
Seaworld was great. Royal Caribbean had in the original itinerary that we booked noon to 9 pm. We weren't off the ship until almost 1:30. This took away our time at Seaworld.
