Cabin: Stateroom with French balcony and outside balcony

Embarkation and disembarkation was fast and easy with no waiting in line. We arrived early on a rainy day in Amsterdam and waited in the lounge where lunch was provided. The best ting about the Amawaterways cruise was the exceptional, extraordinarily hard working staff. Sonya, Ben, Emile and Catalin were so warm and welcoming and did everything they could to be of service as did everyone on the ship.. The ship was immaculate. There was more included booze offered than any reasonable person would drink. Complimentary cocktails in the lounge for an hour before dinner. Unlimited wine and beer at lunch and dinner. Very drinkable wine.

Wonderful breakfast spread. Really excellent breads and baked goods. I also loved the selection at lunch. We usually just had a quick snack in the lounge.

Dinner - Appetizers and soups were consistently delicious. Desserts were good.. Main courses were good to excellent. Chef’s table was an outstanding meal.

Cabin Review

Stateroom with French balcony and outside balcony

Cabin BA

BA level stateroom, tiny, barely room to move around with limited storage. Very limited drawer space, a few shelves, and adequate closet space with unlimited hangers. Queen bed more like a US full size bed with nice linens. Short for my 6”3” spouse and the mattress was rock hard. Tiny bathroom with a good sized, walk in shower. Shelves for your toiletries, but tiny counter space. I have been on 9 ocean cruises and this is the smallest stateroom and bathroom that I’ve encountered, but it had a roomier shower. Bathroom has a plug and large make up mirror. There is a window between the stateroom and outlet which can be changed with a switch from clear to opaque. Problem is that if you need to turn on the bathroom light, the light shines into the stateroom even on the opaque setting. Even the light from my husband’s phone was enough to shine through the opaque window and wake me up.Additionally the light switch is on the outside door to the bathroom. Mini fridge and small safe provided. Unlimited bottled water provided. Tiny sized, but nice to have a balcony.

Wall to wall tourists. Felt like I was walking down a carnival midway. Enjoyed a delicious fried cod sandwich.

Magnificent cathedral.

Cologne

Really not much to see as the "old town" was mostly destroyed curing WW1.

Rudesheim

Charming and lovely town with beautiful views from gondola.

Strasbourg

Beautiful and charming historic area with excellent restaurants and shopping.
