We started our vacation in Paris, staying at the Westin Hotel. Our guide Monia was excellent. She was always available and helped us plan our days when we were on our own, even to giving directions on the subway etc. All of the planned events were wonderful. Dinner at the Eiffel Tower was a highlight. We were bused to Chalon-sur-Saone where we met our ship, Scenic Sapphire, and crew. The ship and our cabin were always immaculate. Meals exceptional and of course the wines of France were par none! All excursions were very well organized and the guides knowledgeable. The crew always saw us off on an excursion and welcomed us back "home", which was nice. All staff were very friendly and accommodating. The Scenic Culinaire, with Jerome was a great experience. After disembarking at Tarascon, we were bused to Barcelona. Our guide now was Carlos. Another great person. He was not feeling well, but that did not stop him from touring us around. We stayed at the Hotel 1898. We were disappointed in our room as it looked out onto a very small courtyard and the red wall of the next arm of the hotel. No view at all. On our first time there it would have been nice to see outside. Both hotels were very well located and easy to get places from them. So many wonderful places and sites to see everywhere. Our biggest disappointment was the flight home. We were booked with Air Canada and they put us on a Rouge flight. Very no frills!! There was no entertainment. If you wanted to watch a movie etc., you had to rent an I Pad for $10.00. The meals were atrocious and hardly edible. For a nine hour flight this is unacceptable. Now the flight from Toronto to Paris was great. Everything was included, even wine. This was our second River Cruise with Scenic, having done Budapest to Amsterdam last year. On the whole we are very pleased with Scenic and should we be so fortunate as to take another River Cruise, it will be with Scenic.
