Quite simply, saw the advert for the cruise. Western Canada and Alaska were always destinations we hoped to visit. Spent 3 days in Vancouver pre cruise and 2 days in Seattle post cruise. The cruise was amazing. Celebrity Solstice is a beautiful ship. We travelled with family and had balcony cabins on each side of the ship. Our cabin was well looked after by Mathius, cabin attendant. The food in the main restaurant was very good, so we did not visit any of the speciality restaurants. Captain Tasos and 2nd in command Nigel were very friendly and entertaining. They and their team looked after us well as we travelled very safely and saw amazing scenery. Especially appreciated Captain Tasos performing "doughnuts" at the glacier, while we waited and watched patiently for the "calving". We attended a Lumberjack show in Ketchican, took a seaplane trip over the glaciers in Juneau, whale watched in Victoria. The only disappointing trip was the White Pass Railway trip - we only managed to get 1/3 of the way up the mountain when the train broke down. Waited on the train on the side of the mountain for over an hour, and eventually they sent another engine up to bring us back down again. This was one trip we had heard so much about and were all looking forward to. We had a wonderful holiday, did some great trips, saw some amazing scenery, brown bears, eagles, whales and porpoises - definitely a trip to put on your "bucket list".
A little tired looking. The sliding wardrobe doors kept coming off the rails. Plenty of space for clothes etc. Comfortable bed. Lovely having a balcony cabin to make the most of the beautiful scenery. Cabin close to the lift.
