Our previous experience with Silversea was on the Silver Galapagos—that was an expedition cruise, quite different than this classic cruise. We chose this cruise because it included stops on three islands—and because it stopped in Monaco for the Grand Prix.

Classic Verandah Suite

Cabin CV

Suite 608 is pretty far to the front of the ship, but motion was never a problem for us. Being that far forward meant that we had less traffic outside our suite, but it also meant we had a longer trip to the restaurants, activities, and coffee.

The suite itself was quiet, clean, and very nice.

There were an adequate number of USA power outlets in the room, but unfortunately the outlets are in pairs that are very close to each other--so when I plugged in my camera's battery charger it blocked the other outlet. Fortunately we did have a European adapter with us so we could power all of our various gizmos at once.

We used the TVs (there are two built into mirrors) to see where all of the Silversea ships were, to check our expenses, and read about the excursions--we never actually watched TV--we were too busy!

The internet was free and pretty slow, but good enough for email and web surfing.

The bedroom area could be separated from the sitting area with a curtain (we never used it), suitcases were easily stored under the bed, there were plenty of drawers--and the walk-in closet was great. It had a built-in dresser and safe.

The bathroom had a tub which my wife used once and enjoyed. We also used the tub to wash out some clothes--it had a laundry string that could be stretched out the length of the tub. The shower was small--as expected, but perfectly usable. We liked all of the shelves in the bathroom.

Calvi

Illustrious Men was a good tour of the island with a lot of information on the famous men associated with Corsica. We were especially intrigued with Pasquale Paoli.
