When I chose this cruise, I wanted the experience of going all the way through the Panama Canal rather than just the first set of locks to the lake then back. To add to the itinerary, I got the experience of a brand new ship as well as the largest ship in the Norwegian family. I certainly was not disappointed. From the ports we visited to the activities on board to the entertainment and activities and dining, it was a once-in-a lifetime experience. On this ship, Norwegian added four additional speciality dining possibilities that I have not seen on previous cruises: Los Lobos, a Mexican eatery; Q, a barbecue place; Ocean Blue, seafood; and Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville. These four places added to Cagney's Steakhouse, Teppanyaki (Japanese hibachi), LaCucina (Italian) and Le Bistro (French) plus other smaller venues that sold desserts, chocolate and international food items. They even had a Starbucks on board that made my day. In additional to the buffet, they had three main dining rooms and a casual grill that offered "free" meals if you didn't want to pay extra for the speciality venues. Entertainment was boundless from a Beatles band, the Jersey Boys, several comedians, and other variety show possibilities. The only downside to all this was the enormous amount of people (4,000ish) that also wanted to see the shows and eat the food. Because I am limited in mobility, my biggest complaint was the extremely poor organization of embarkation and disembarkation for wheelchair assistance. There has got to be a better way of getting disabled passengers on and off the boat rather than waiting for such a long time. Overall, I would definitely give this trip and this ship 4.5 stars out of 5.
Typical cabin with balcony. Seemed like the bathroom was a little better laid out and not so crowded in the shower.
Visited the National Theatre in San Jose Costa Rico and a woodworking place. It was just so so. Nothing to write home about.
