This was our 8th Cruise on Oceania. We sailed May 17, 2018 from Rome to Venice on an 8 day cruise. We've always felt in the past sailing on Oceania was worth the extra cost over some of the mainstream cruiselines. However, changes that Oceania made on this cruise different from other European cruises in the past on the Riveria makes me question which cruise line I will use in the future.
The ship, the food, the service as good as in the past. Oceania shore excursions were exceptional. The ports were visited were fabulous.
My disappointment is following.
Very good, quiet and did not feel any motion. We sailed on Oceania in January 2018 and had a cabin on the 7th floor with strange loud noises occasionally. They could never find the cause and it was very annoying.
Venice is beautiful Disappointed Oceania had not shuttle at port to take you close to St Marks Square. Walked to People Mover about 20 minute walk. Instructions easy to buy tickets 1.50 euro each way. Takes to Plaza Roma then can walk around Venice. Still about 1 mile from St Marks square but nice shops, restaurants etc on the way.
Nice views and walk in Acireale. Not worth what Oceania is charging but if booking a package which reduces the price then its a pleasant activity at this port.
Enjoyed the short ride on the small boat in an underground lake. We were lucky to be the first group at the Greek Meze restaurant so we could sit at tables by the water and relax. Food good.
