Let me start by saying that I absolutely hate giving bad reviews for anything, but our experience on this ship was so below par that I had to say something, even if it's just to make future cruisers aware.
My boyfriend and I have been on about 6 cruises together, on RCI (Vision of the Seas), NCL, and Carnival. We've had excellent experiences on every one of them. We knew going in that this was a smaller, older ship, but it was a shorter itinerary and we were dying to see Cuba. RCI isn't generally our first choice, but this was the only ship that was offering Havana overnights. Our expectations weren't super high, but we at least expected to have a fun, laid back, relaxing trip.
Let's start with the good:
The stateroom was tiny! My boyfriend and I are not big people by any means and we barely had enough space to move around without banging into each other. The bed was two double beds pushed together. My boyfriend and I could sleep in the same bed, which is always nice! But the bed sank in the middle and I constantly rolled into the gap between the beds, which would wake me up at times. On other ships, this has never been an issue.
Side note, I noticed my asthma acting up more than usual when we were in the room. I'm not sure if it was because of mold and mildew on an older ship? I have the same issue in old houses.
Television in the room was also lacking and there was very little to watch. There was only one movie channel that only played rom-coms.
This port of call was cancelled on our trip due to inclement weather. However, we've been here before and it's a beautiful island with gorgeous beaches and friendly people.
