We wanted to do a week cruise on one of the smaller ships...thus we chose the Elation for the job. Normally this ship runs to the Bahamas, which we have actually taken on her. We were onboard prior to the refit - which was a surprising uplift to the vessel. Since our adult daughter was coming along, we got a suite for the obvious extra room...good move. The Grand Suite was a bit smaller than one on the Dream, but owing to the size difference of the ship, not a problem. Our balcony was more than sufficient, so we were glad we did not pay extra for the "extended" balcony.

Service onboard was excellent! Our Steward made sure all was right. On the first day, Christian inquired about anything we needed and kept on top of any and all requests. Staff elsewhere was equally up to task.

Meals in the Main Dining Room were good. No major surprises, although perhaps Carnival could update their menu....getting to be a bit too predictable.

Cabin Review

Grand Suite

Cabin GS

Roomy if you have more than 2 people. Great for 1 week.

Port Reviews

Jacksonville

Small facility. Parking a breeze. Initial entry very poor. Leaving the same. The place is understaffed and needs better organization.

Half Moon Cay

Great Beach stop. Ship provided decent meal ashore.

Grand Turk

Another nice beach. Grand Turk still recovering from storm damage.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

Took excursion to Puerto Plata where we saw ciity, beautiful cathedral, historical museum, fantastic gardens with orchids and other exotic plants + a very tasty lunch! Oh, rum distillery with tasty samples for those who imbibe! Tour organized by Carnival and was very reasonably priced!
