We chose Viking because we had been fortunate enough to enjoy three river cruises and an ocean cruise previously and didn’t want to be disappointed by going with someone else. From being met at the airport by the young staff in their red coats, to being seen off similarly, everything was organized and well thought out. The ship was beautifully decorated for Christmas and as always was spotlessly clean. The staff go above and beyond to assist you - whether the room steward or the waiter at dinner or the staff clearing away the towels from around the pool. The food is excellent with many different choices. The excursions are great and the on board entertainment was excellent.
The real joy though is that everything is included, from an excursion every day, to wine and beer with lunch and dinner, to the speciality restaurants, everything! No bills at the end of the trip to put a dampener on things!
We enjoy the fact that there are less than a thousand guests onboard and there’s no casino. The cultural activities and presentations are more appealing to us. We also enjoy the fact that we can enjoy our dinner at any time between 6:30 and 9:30 and sit on our own and don’t need to pack a gown and dinner jacket. Did I mention that there is no one under the age of 18 - another bonus.
Cabin Review
The cabin is roomy and has plenty of space for everything. The beds are high enough to accommodate your empty cases underneath. We didn’t find time to watch TV but it also allows you to look at your upcoming excursions and dinner reservations and view anything that may have been billed to your room. The bath products are of good quality and towels are replaced daily if required. The luxury bedding is changed every couple of days. There’s a desk and a couple of armchairs and a balcony - again no extra charge, every cabin has a balcony. Oh and 24 hour room service (no charge) and free wi-fi. It’s all kept spotlessly clean with service twice a day by the room steward.
