Sail Date: May 2018

Sailed on the Celebration when it first sailed several years ago. It was terrible to say the least. The food was no good the crew was terrible. That crew they started with was the locals. I mean locals. Some spoke english. Lazy people and could have cared less about your enjoyment. Because the ship was recently refurbished and some good reviews. We decided to give it a try. Just a quick one about us. 67 cruises on the big lines. So we can give you a very good review on what to expect. For the first time cruiser, you will enjoy it very much, not being able to compare it to anything else. Let me first say. It is well worth the cost of the cruise. Watch for the deals. Today you can get an oceanview for only$129 and a child sails free or no child you get a $50 OBC. A great deal for sure. If you drink $70.00 with the tips for 10 drinks, That is better than $10.90 including the tip for a mixed drink. A savings of $39.00 The first night show was not that great. The cruise director is a country singer want-a-be. Not good at all. My opinion. A Lot seemed to like him. That was really the only set back. The magician was very good and the comedian was excellent. We did not go to his special show. I think that is $13.00 each. I would think it is well worth it from the 10 min. on stage that we heard. Super funny. My wife could not stop laughing. I have a hearing problem, but what I could make out was very funny. Many places to enjoy just about any kind of music you like. The food at the buffet for lunch when you board is so, so. Not much to choose from. The southern fried chicken was excellent so was the beef. They also had carved leg of lamb which we did not try. Later they had pizza which is a draw of the luck on what you will get. Either good or not good at all. The sauce is basically non existent. Sometimes it is undercooked. We were lucky to get pepperoni done perfect. So it was good, just basically no sauce. Soft serve ice cream vanilla and chocolate. Problem, it is not available in the evening. No late nite ice cream. I miss that. Late nite snacks fro 11:00 to 2:00am Tacos and dessert. The meat (Chili) was super delicious. They had flowing hot cheddar cheese to top it off. Excellent. Dinner was at the Admiralty where dinner complimentary or you can also opt for better choices for a nominal charge. My wife had glazed salmon. It was super big and excellent in both looks and taste. I had something I cannot pronounce with a burgundy sauce. It was excellent. Wife had peach cobbler and it was so darn hot. She loved it. We both had mango sherbert. it was excellent.

We did not do the Admirals dining. The Pool bar and grill had burgers and hotdogs. I would guess 1/2 lb burgers. Taste was good but not that good of quality meat. Hot dogs were very good.

Lunch the next day in the buffet was excellent. They had breaded basa fish fingers. EXCELLENT. French fries, and tartar sauce. The tartar sauce was EXCELLENT. My wife and a grilled pork chop. It was EXCELLENT. I had to try one. It was so unbelievably tender. I have no idea how they did that to a pork chop. it melted in your mouth. They had a potato salad with salmon. My wife loved it. Last dinner was everyone in the Admiralty restaurant. No buffet that evening. The reason. All the waiters do a song and dance like some other cruise lines do. It was very nice. The ship itself was super clean. All the major public areas were like new. very beautiful. Cabins are old but clean and nice. Our bathroom mirror has seen better days. However, the nice bright lighting over the mirror my wife loved that for applying her makeup. Getting off the last day was a breeze if you have passports. if not you are in a line for customs. Breakfast was from 6:30 to 9:30 AM. It was excellent. It could not have been any better at all. Typical, eggs anyway you want them, or scrambled or hard boiled. Bacon was excellent, potatoes, or home fries.Sausage and many other items. That was very nice on this ship. If you wanted toast or a bagel (Super big) they would toast it when you wanted it. So nice and hot at the table. Looks like they try to make eating healthy also. Butter is unsalted but tastes great. Yogurt is Lite and tastes great also plus the diet cheesecake which my wife loved. She loved NY style and this one was excellent. I have no idea where they got these. Freestone Peaches. You know, the fuzzy looking peaches. I cannot find they anywhere. They had them and so delicious. In the morning before departing they all tell you take your time. Enjoy your breakfast. They would like you off by 10:30. Remember, you car is valet parked. Even if it was raining you will not get wet. Docking at Freeport was unexpected. Before, they docked where the other cruise lines docked. You were able to get off and be in the middle of the fun. Lots of places to look and shop. Frogs bar. Harley Davidson store and many more places. Now you need to walk through 2 large parking lots to get to that location. Almost a 10 min walk. Not a problem, we like to take walks. But you need to cut through these places to get there. We have been to Freeport probably 15+ times so we did not book any excursions at all. The ship was basically empty to enjoy the Jacussies all by yourself. They did have trivia about 4 times a day. That was very nice. Also Bingo. Wife got 4 corners and won a lot of money, $33.31 :-) Game cost was $20.00. We were happy. I wish they had a slot tournament. Probably because not many players. The ship was about half full. Tue-Wed-Thur. I would think they do a lot better on the weekends. Well, think I covered it. Try it. Just do not expect a $1,000.00 cruise. it is what it is and well worth the price. Go and Enjoy!!! We will be trying the Grand Classica in two months.

Cabin Review

Cabin Oceanview

Cabin was dated but very clean and comfortable. The bathroom mirror had seen better days. The lighting the the bathroom was nice and bright to see what the heck you are doing in the mirror. Other ships have very low lighting. We bring a battery night light for the bathroom while sleeping. It is nice not to get hit with the super bright light if you need to use the bathroom during the night time. $2.00 on ebay with free shipping form China. Celebrity lines have a night light.
