Hilo was a tour with other cruise critic members. We had a private tour and went to Volcanoes National Park and the Mauna Loa Nut Factory. VNP was amazing. The nut factory was good, bought a few chocolates there. This was a great tour with great people. 


Hilo

This was my favorite island. I think it was because we rented a car and could stop here and there. We rented a car from Thrifty, had a pick up shuttle to and from the pier. 
We drove around the island up to the North Shore, stopping at a couple of beaches, then back down and visited the Dole Pineapple Plantation. From there we went over by where our luau was and found a beach with a cove, which was the cove the luau used. My son swam for awhile. Went to the Paradise Cove Luau and it was fantastic. So many things to do before the actual show and buffet. We were a little nervous as to missing the ship so we left the luau about 30 minutes early. And also missing the last shuttle from the rental car place. We were back in plenty of time. 
One thing I did not know when booking the luau, is they charge for their shuttles from a hotel to the luau. Since we ended up renting a car this was not needed but I had no idea I needed to cancel the shuttle. So we were charged $20 each. A little irritating and waste of money. 


Honolulu

We had another private tour with our critic members. This tour took us around to different sites where movies were filmed. Our tour guide would play movie scenes at the sites. This tour was ok, my son was very bored on this tour. We were able to see a lot of the island. 


Kauai

This was my least favorite island. We got off the ship on our own, took a cab to a beach for my son. I think it was Kaanapali Beach. I will say my mom and I are not outdoor people. So we get to the beach, no chairs, little shade. There was a nice shopping area right there. So my mom and I took turns watching my son in the water. Rented him a boogie board, he had a ball. It was a nice beach, quite a few people there. Came back and looked around the town area. 


Maui

Great cabin, good sized closet, quiet, hard beds.

This was my first Princess cruise, first holiday cruise, first inside cabin and first time in Hawaii.I tried to sleep under the white comforter the first night and was just too hot, there was not a top sheet which I thought was odd.
