My girlfriend and I (both in our late 50's) went on the newly refurbished Caribbean Princess and she did not disappoint. This was our third cruise together (sailed together previously on NCL and HAL). However, this was my 53rd cruise and her 57th cruise. We have been on enough cruise ships to know whats really good and what is not. We live in S. Florida and this allows the opportunity to cruise frequently. Neither of us have kids and we like to cruise while schools are generally in session. The ship is older but generally it has been very well maintained. The recent refurbishment was evident in many of the public areas, especially the Lido deck. That seemed to be fully re-done. The buffet was reconfigured to allow separate serving stations which is a pleasure. No waiting on one long line. Overall, the food was very good and this goes for both the buffet and the main dining room. We had anytime dining and always asked for a table for 2. Our longest wait time was about 15 minutes. We are pescetarians, and found the fish, salads etc. to be very good to excellent. For the most part, the food in the dining room was served hot & fresh. The desserts were delectable. The service was very good throughout. These people go above and beyond to please their customers. We had an inside cabin on the aft part of the Aloha deck (deck no. 12). We were concerned after reading about the propulsion issues especially being towards the back of the ship. We never felt anything in our cabin. However, we did feel vibrations at times at the Marketplace buffet on the Lido deck. Certainly nothing that bad. The one issue I had with the cabin is that they need to update them a bit. There are no usb ports in the cabin! I was surprised because I figured that they would modernized the cabins a bit during their recent refurbishment. Disappointed, but we lived with it. Also, the bathroom was very tiny. Again, not a catastrophic problem.

The ship went to their private island in the Bahamas (though it was lousy weather that day and we did not bother getting off the ship), St. Thomas (nice friendly US Virgin Island), St. Kitts, St. Lucia (very friendly and nice island), Antigua, and St. Marteen. St. Marteen had some really good prices on jewelry and liquor. So does St. Thomas for that matter.

The shows on the ship were at very strange times - 6:45 and 8:30. So, if you have any time dining and you wanted to go to dinner at a normal hour, say 7 or so, you will miss the shows. We went to a couple of the 6:45 shows and then went to dinner a little afterwards. Many people had the same idea so the dining room got a little crowded at that time. Nonetheless, the food and service was still very good to excellent.

Small but adequate, though the bathroom (shower) is really tiny. Main complaint that we had was the fact that they have modernized the cabins. No usb ports. Kind of surprising after the money they spent refurbishing the public rooms, hallways, etc.
