We wanted to do a maiden cruise and try a transatlantic to see how we enjoyed extra sea time. It was great! The decor was beautifully understated, mirroring the colors of the sea. It will be amazing in Alaska. Like on many ships, it is more tailored to Alaska than the Caribbean. Gorgeous. Crew were very friendly and offered service above and beyond. (There was one really green waiter at lunch in Savor, though, who I hope is getting used to his role. He offered ground pepper on EVERY course we ordered. He was also nervous and fidgety.)
Onboard entertainment was awesome. We loved Jersey Boys. Went to some of the comedy performances. Loved “The Beatles” in the Cavern Club. We attended the hypnosis lectures. We played bingo. We also enjoyed a lot of the Cruise Critic activities, including the Meet and Mingle, the slot pull, the LCR game, scavenger hunt, and the farewell dinner. Big thanks to The DougOut for all his work organizing the Cruise Critic activities.
We loved the shore excursions. Did the Island Views, Tastes and Horses which was amazing in Ponta Delgada. Did Peggy’s Cove and the Hop on, Hop Off in Halifax. Would have ordered up better weather in Halifax, Nova Scotia, but didn’t have that option!
Loved the big trough sink in the bathroom with two faucets! It was great for two of us to get ready and also for doing hand laundry. Bed was comfortable. Decor was beautiful. Steward was very adaptable to our schedule and kept our cabin is good shape. Also appreciated the option to bathe if we wanted. Great location—midship, close to forward elevators but not so close to get noise or passenger traffic. Loved having balcony to check out the weather and take photos.
