We had been on the Gem before and like it as it is a relatively small ship with a lot happening.

This time however there were too many children for our liking. We have no objection to well behaved children but these seemed to have no boundaries and the Garden Cafe looked more like a chimps tea party, there was food every where and parents just got up and left with their offspring still hanging on to more food than any adult could eat let alone a child, one incident saw a child exiting the Cafe with 5 boxes of cereal? The Washy washy lady could hardly keep her counsel. The Cafe was a place to stay away from unless very early, it was the proverbial bun fight.

There seemed to be less staff on this cruise than the previous time I was on the Gem and the food slightly less scrumptious. The cleaning was very below par and I sat looking at a piece of melon and a squashed hash brown whilst several people stepped over them including staff and staff in white shirts. The toilets were often out of toilet paper and there was always toilet paper strewn over the floor.

Cabin OA

Our cabin was perfect if a little tight to get around the bed, it was clean and tidy and room for every thing. Sulin kept our room very well and made us towel animals every day the little chick was so clever. I was asked if there was anything I needed and there was not so all was well.

Just a moan about the charging for water in the cabin as you cannot drink the tap water it would be only fair iced water was routinely put in the room each evening.
