I cruised out of Baltimore because it was more convenient than traveling to Florida and it offered a cruise to Bermuda, which I had not visited before this cruise. I had cruised with Norwegian to the Bahamas (and loved it), but I was excited to try a different cruise line and destination. My sister-in-law and I took this trip to celebrate our birthdays, so we were expecting a relaxing and fun trip! The staff at the port and on board Grandeur of the Seas was phenomenal! They were so helpful and friendly. I have a food allergy, and the dining staff went out of their way to make sure that I had delicious meals and that I didn't have to worry about my allergy. The room attendant must have changed our towels three or four times each day (even though we left them on the rack to reuse) and kept our room spotless! He refilled our cooler with ice several times a day so we could keep cold water, etc. in our room (the oceanview rooms on deck 2 do not have refrigerators). The port excursions that we booked through Royal Caribbean were reasonably priced (make sure to book ahead of the cruise because the price dramatically increased once you were onboard) and went very smoothly! We booked the Devil's Isle Snorkel excursion and the Horseshoe Bay Beach excursion. I would highly recommend both! The Devil's Isle Snorkel excursion was awesome because you could snorkel, kayak, paddleboard, swim, explore the beach, or relax on board the catamaran with a delicious drink. There was a bathroom on the catamaran. At Horseshoe Bay Beach, there is a small restaurant offering drinks, hot and cold lunch options (like chicken nuggets, hamburgers, subs, salads, etc.), a bathroom with showers, changing stalls, and changing station for babies. I did not see any lockers, so you just have to keep your stuff with you. The price to rent two beach loungers with an umbrella was $45 (they accept U.S. $), and an attendant sets it up for you. The sand is super-soft and pink, the beach is gorgeous and not too crowded, and the rocks/caves are fun to explore! If you want to go shopping in Bermuda, be aware that most of the shops close at 5 p.m. Some bars and restaurants stay open, but there is little to do right at the port after 5 p.m. The only two drawbacks to Grandeur of the Seas is the prominence of secondhand smoke and the lack of indoor activities for families with kids if the pool is closed. First, smoking is allowed in the casino and on the main pool deck (the pool for kids), and even if you try to avoid those areas, you smell smoke in the Centrum and Palladium Theater. It was hard to totally avoid! Second, the decks and pools were closed on our second day at sea due to a storm, so for the entire day, everyone was stuck inside. Your options were the casino, bars, sitting in lounges and listening to live music, etc. I know there are kids' programs available, but I saw many small children just sitting with their families or walking around the ship with not a lot to do. So, I would recommend a bigger ship with more indoor options if you're traveling with kids.

Cabin Review

Ocean View

Cabin 6N

Our cabin was very clean and had a split oceanview window. There was plenty of storage for two people. It was located near the front elevators, which seem to be less crowded, but not too close, so you didn't hear them all night! However, you did hear mechanisms/noises from below the ship. We brought a small fan with us, so that helped to drown out the noises. I would not stay on deck 2 again, simply because of the amount of movement I felt (especially during the stormy sea day we encountered). I got so seasick and deck 2 was awful! It felt like I was on a roller coaster and could not get off. I would choose a cabin on a middle deck and towards the middle of the ship next time. Cabin 2020 is too close to the front of the ship, so you feel more movement and hear more noises.
