We chose this cruise because we decided to join our friends who already had booked. All in all we had a great time. Alaskas beauty is breathtaking and we thoroughly enjoyed our stops and excursions. I was disappointed that our time in Victoria was short and too late in the evening to see the Buchart Gardens but what a lovely town it seemed to be! Our White Pass/Yukon Route train ride was spectacular and a must on this cruise. Glacier Bay viewing from the decks of the boat was spectacular and to see and hear the "calving" was a bonus for sure. We can't really complain about any of the food- enjoyed the buffets at breakfast and lunch- pizza, burgers, hotdogs, and ice cream were always a delicious option, the Crown served us the most delicious Filet Mignon and Surf and Turf, and my friend and I wish we would have found this jewel at the Vin much sooner- Sushi! free with a glass of wine and we had the premium beverage package so that was a no-brainer- and it was delish!! My husband and I loved the comedian in the theater, and I (Sheila) made many friends the first day by joining in the Trivia at the Explorers lounge- which became our favorite hang out in the seating area right outside of the bar. Yes, that was us constantly paying Skip-Bo! Every worker was so polite and friendly and my only complaint was the high pressure sales at the Lotus. I just wanted to get a massage and basic pedicure. I felt extremely badgered into "upgrading" and the "sell" at the end of services left me feeling disappointed in the whole thing. I really don't need to be made to feel bad about turning down the products when Ive just spent a good chunk of change for the service. Please be more respectful about this to future passengers as not everyone can afford to pay more after they have treated themselves to the service in the first place. Rant over-PS- My massage and pedi were great!
We enjoyed the casino and were bummed that it was closed down the last afternoon and evening of the cruise, and we did feel like the service and fun were over starting late afternoon on day before we left- like they were telling us the fun was done. We enjoyed the daily pamphlets of the Events of the day, we ate way more than we should have, but also walked more than normal so that is a wash, right?
My Tips-
The cabin had a mini fridge, super comfy bed, ample closet for hanging and shelving, nice bathroom altho shower was on the small side. My husband especially loved the way our steward kept the room cleaned up several times daily- superb!
