My husband and I are avid cruisers, we used to think it was about flying and getting a hotel but discovered cruising and now that is all we do!! We love it, until this time. We took the 5 day Radiance of the Seas to Cabo San Lucas as a getaway before the holidays we left around the 12th of December. First we live in San Diego so we thought it would be so cool to just board here no flying and take a nice getaway..were we wrong! Boarding was no problem the people were nice on the pier and we took one of the pedicabs to the boat so much fun!! Played Reggae in the cart was great! If I had known what the cruise would hold for us I would have paid double to be taken back to our car!

First, the ship was old looking to us. We went into the Adults only Sanctuary and it had silk flowers around the pool area that looked like they had not been dusted in years and had started to turn blue due to sun..really tacky! It was closed in so there was no fresh air which was odd. Second, we got a balcony room which is what we have always gotten on our other trips. This was our first (and last) time with Royal Caribbean so we had only known the Princess line and what a balcony was like there BIG difference!! The room was tiny, half the size of a Princess room, and the balcony was not private at all- only partially covered then glass so you can see your neighbors. Then the balcony was set back so when you look down you see the top of the floor below you...not water it was another 10 feet to see water, this is why we want the balcony! But this is not the worst...this was the noisiest room I have ever had, even in a hotel, every night at 8:00 pm to around 11:30 we could hear music coming from the dance area, so loud that we could sing along but mostly it was the bass that pounded on the walls that drove us crazy, if you want quiet this is not the boat for you!! We could hear our neighbors, the hallway, the dance music..everything but the ocean...... I do have to say the bed was nice but who could sleep!! We mentioned it to the front desk person and they just said there was nothing they could do it was the location of the room!! So we paid $900 to sit in room that was horrible with no customer service..and the food was like any cafeteria I have ever eaten at. The best thing I ate on the ship was the frozen yogurt and thank god for the coffee bar!!

It was really cold on deck for the first couple of days and really windy so we had to find a cubby hole at the back of the boat and I mean the back. We are non smokers so we sat down and found out quickly that apparently that is where the smokers go so we went back to our cabin. When it finally started to warm up we were close to Cabo, if you want to party this is the place because it was loud and you get hit with people trying to sell things the minute you get off the boat. I walked the whole pier and was asked no less than 30 times, we turned around went back to the boat because it was so loud and annoying. I could keep going but why, it was the worst cruise we have ever taken and will not return to Royal Caribbean! Princess has us for life!! They are amazing, the best ship was the Coral but the others were just beautiful and CLEAN never saw dust like we saw on Royal. Frankly in the lobby it was tiny and looked like the plants (both real and fake) had not been dusted in a couple years...horrible!! Good Luck if you go on this ship.....we will never go again..

Cabin Review

Cabin BA

we were in balcony cabin 7144 and it was VERY LOUD. We could hear the dance area music late into the night, the room was tiny and the balcony was not private. We woke up to guys outside our balcony walking around cleaning...how intrusive! closet tiny, bathroom: shower only and tiny. This is the smallest and loudest room I have ever had including hotels!
