We have sailed with several companies and overall decided as we were going to be on board for 52 nights on P&O because it is less formal than some, although the food choice is more limited than others.
We had a fabulous time and generally everyone on board was extremely helpful and polite. The entertainment was excellent with very interesting lectures and port reviews. We found that the excursions offered something for everyone.
Just a few words of warning!
If you are embarking in Brisbane, be warned that their are 2 ports and if you get it wrong, it will cost you over £100 in taxi fares! No one seems to know this and several of the P&O staff told us that everybody goes to the wrong port!!!! Well, having paid £100 to get to the right port, we did not see the funny side. Having got over this, the staff were so helpful and friendly, but our rating will be low.
Our cabin balcony, D117, left a lot to be desired. Not only was it not clean on our arrival and nor did it get cleaned for our trip, but on several days, it smelt so badly that we could not open the door. We complained several times but were given different stories, such as, it depended which way the wind was blowing/the life boats smelt etc. Finally, we investigated ourselves, found a vent on Deck 3 from an 'engine' room, asked a passing engineer and found that this was the problem. We then reported this back and were given £100 off our bill! We do not get the feeling that this will be investigated anytime soon.
And finally and this actually upset us the most! Having had a fabulous relationship with our cabin steward, on the last night of our trip, he took it upon himself to remove our remaining personal items from the cupboards so he could clean the cabin for the next passengers who would be joining the following day. Now on several levels this cannot be right. 1. We paid for that night. 2. That doesn't seem very hygienic as we are still using the cabin and 3. We do not appreciate our toiletries etc. being placed in our bags. We have complained, twice about this, but have heard nothing back, hence our comments here. Not good enough.
P&O, we can forgive certain things and we do think you are brilliant overall, but PLEASE LISTEN when we report a problem. Sometimes, it's not what goes wrong that causes anxiety, it's the way it's dealt with. Hence rating underneath.

Fabulous day. Very well organised.View All 27 Barrier Reef Reviews
We choice 'Charms of Manila'. Wish we'd chosen a more adventurous trip. But as a trip for easy access, it was excellent.
Fantastic. Train, sight seeing, tallest building observation tower, the Bund, walk along the river. Fab!View All undefined undefined Reviews
Very good. Hong Kong Park, is just beautiful. Pray for good weather at the Peak! Managed to get lunch in the market with the Chinese and away from the tourists.
Also went on the 'Evening Harbour Cruise'. Forget it! Such a rip off! Stay on the boat and enjoy the lights from there.
Not for us. The 'Villages and Countryside' excursion was a farce. Sitting on a coach going around in circles waiting for actors to get into place on a a patch of mud pretending it's a paddy field, is rather ridiculous and 'Ho Chi Minh City on your Own' was rather spoiled as we were told that American Dollars would be accepted...no they are not!!!! Fortunately we had a credit card with us!
Loved this tour as it gave us a taste so we could venture out on our own. Very good value for money and a great guide. But then, Singapore is just so beautiful and compact, you really don't need a guide. We're returning to this country!View All undefined undefined Reviews
Fabulous places to visit. Such an informative guide. Loved it, but was glad to get back to the boat, hot, noisy, loud and dusty!!!!! I know, it's a city, but after Singapore!!!!!View All undefined undefined Reviews
One of the highlights (literally!) of our holiday. Finally saw paddy fields and were given a demonstration, brilliant. The trip to the top of Machincang is simply stunning and has to be done. It is a long way up and that's putting it mildly. I don't have a problem with heights or cable cars, but I did close my eyes on the way up on this one!!! Downside, be prepared to wait to go up on the cable cars. We stood in a queue for over an hour and a half! No one found that amusing, believe me!!!!View All undefined undefined Reviews
To be honest, not much to write really. We just chose 'Leisurely Colombo' to be lazy. It was a nice drive around and it was a pretty place.
I seem to have written my review for Colombo in Goa!!!! WE loved Goa. The tour gave us a glimpse but as friends keep telling me, Goa is not real India, but I would come back!
Desert Safari...EXCELLENT! Such fun, brilliant value for money!
Sundowners....well, hate feeling like a tourist. Maybe venture out on your own.
The FRAME.....Just BRILLIANT!!! Up there as one of our best excursions. Also had a fabulous guide.View All 20 Desert Safari Reviews

Lovely to get on a speed boat and see the beautiful Muscat from the sea. Spotting dolphins was just the icing on the cake!View All undefined undefined Reviews
A long drive through the most amazing dessert scenery that simply takes your breath away with a very pleasant lunch in a Bedouin tent. So not normally me, but I loved it!View All 14 Wadi Rum Walking Tour Reviews
My husband did this one on his own as it was going to be too much for me. He rated this as one of his highlights of our World trip and judging by the 600 photos he took, it looks amazing. It is very hot, hours of walking but well worth the effort.View All undefined undefined Reviews
Beautiful island. Fabulous lunch in a restaurant over looking the bay. Perfect! Be warned about walking around in Naples on your own. No that safe! Be very aware.
