This was our second cruise to Bermuda on the Dawn, We wanted a simple vacation with no flying involved. Because our last cabin was too small and didn't even have a seating area, we got a mini suite this time and it was well worth the extra money. For the first time I actually got to take a bath at sea! There was plenty of room, lots of storage and the cabin was very comfortable. Although we were near the spa, there was no noise from it at all. We were on deck 11 and even though the sea was a little rough one day, it was still very comfortable. This was our third cruise on the Dawn but the first since she was in dry dock. The changes worked well and she looked nice and fresh. Entertainment on board was good but on several nights there was only one show which resulted in a lot of crowding. I found the activities pretty disappointing. The food in the dining rooms and Cagneys and the teppenyaki was great. I was very surprised to find the dining room closed for lunch on two days in port. That left us at the mercy of the Garden Court or the pub unfortunately the food was not up to par in either place. If this happens to you, eat in Bermuda. We didn't go on any shore excursions because we had been to Bermuda in the past. There is a great public transportation system so it is easy to get just about any place you want. Although we had free internet minutes, we didn't even use them all because service is so slow. NCL needs to get with the times and improve this. The internet manager is wonderful though. So helpful and taught me some tricks I now use on land. Another thing I appreciated was that they were not constantly dunning you to have your picture taken and this was a welcome change. Some of the wait staff were wonderful an others were just going through the motions. If I had to work as many hours as they do, I'm sure I would have bad days too! The Latitudes cocktail party, which is usually fun, was a big disappointment. The drinks and appetizers were fine but none of the officers spoke or introduced themselves and the cruise director left a lot to be desired. Embarkation and disembarkation went much more smoothly than it has in the past. We were celebrating an anniversary and one night they gave us a cake and sang Let Me Call You Sweetheart. This was a lovely thoughtful touch. We probably won't go to Bermuda again but we will sail with NCL.
