We chose Scenic for our first river cruise, which was a 60th birthday celebration for my sister. There were 3 couples in our group, ranging in age from 45 to 62. It appeared the average age of the other passengers was closer to 70. From the initial booking/reservation experience right through to disembarkation, the Scenic team provided outstanding service. They took care of our every need and request. Very impressive.

The ship was extremely clean, as were our cabins. I honestly could not believe how our cleaning lady managed to keep the glass shower enclosure so spotless. We had one of the few basic cabins on board without a balcony. Because of the itinerary, we felt the extra expense of balcony rooms would not be worth it and we do not regret our decision. Our cabins were on the small side (170 sq ft) but adequate and clean.

The food ranged from very good to excellent. Breakfast and lunch are served buffet style and the selection choices were excellent. I really appreciated the Moet & Chandon champagne mimosas! You also had the option of ordering from the menu (eggs bennie, lamb chops, etc.) if nothing from the buffet tickled your fancy. Dinner was always from the menu. Although the portion sizes were small, it didn't matter as you could order an unlimited amount of food. The small portion sizes were an added bonus as it meant the larger eaters at our table could try out several different appetizers, mains, and desserts! Everything we ordered, with the exception of the beef main in Portobello's, were perfect. The beef main course at Portobello's was served well done and I like my beef medium rare.
