Sail Date: Apr 2018
Cabin: Family Mini-Suite with Balcony

After the mess at embarkation (apparently the NY Terminal cannot properly handle ships of his size) the cruise was good. Transatlantic weather in April was as we expected so there wasn't much to do outside, but there was plenty to do inside. Temperatures were in the 60's with a south gale that kept the upper decks closed for most of the first week. The cabin was typical of NCL cruises, as was the entertainment and dining.

The specialty restaurants were very good and we had no problems making reservations. Also, the food in the main dining rooms was better than expected. The buffet was pretty much hit-and-miss but we didn't go hungry at any time. Since we don't go on cruises for the food, dining was a non-issue.

Internet service was relatively useless but we didn't have high expectations there - we give up on trying to use our 'free' online minutes after a few tries. NCL needs to either fix this out or get rid of Internet service.

Cabin Review

Family Mini-Suite with Balcony

The balcony mini-suite cabin was typical of NCL ships. This was the last cruise before the ship was scheduled for drydock maintenance and we heard that other passengers had some issues with things not working in their cabins. Our toilet randomly refused to flush but everything else was fine. Our room steward was excellent and we had plenty of space for two people.

Port Reviews

Cobh (Cork)

We did the Best of Ireland bus tour and spent a lot of time on the bus, but also saw a lot of interesting things and it was a day well-spent. We could have used more time in Kinsale where we had some free time, but we needed to get back to the ship for departure.
