Caribbean and Bermuda

This cruise was chosen specifically for the itinerary. Summit is an older ship, introduced in 2001. Although the public areas except for the Oceanview Cafe are updated, the staterooms are tired. It is scheduled for refurbishment in early 2019 but Celebrity has a tendency to delay replacement of chairs, couches, and bathroom sinks and mirrors. Rust was prevalent on the balcony, the chairs in the Oceanview Cafe were in such poor condition, they actually substituted normal dining chairs with card table chairs. Beyond the cosmetic deficiencies, Celebrity always demonstrates consistent dining experiences and outstanding entertainment. The staff and crew exceed expectations and always make you welcome.

The excursions sponsored by the ship will meet the needs of most passengers but our experience has been to seek more private tours online. The cost is significantly less and usually have only a handful of people on the tour. Viator allowed us to have multiple tours on St. Maarten and Bermuda with one in St. Maarten ending up as a totally private one.

One of the highlights of the Celebrity Summit and its sister Millenium class ships is the thalassotherapy pool. This is open to all passengers and it provides a salt water pool with whirlpool type water motion. Too bad this is not a staple on the Solstice class ships.
