Having done a number of Celebrity Cruises in the past & thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience, we had been looking forward to our latest voyage of discovery. Unfortunately toon many cost saving issues spoilt the overall experience. Bearing in mind our yardstick was past Celebrity Cruises we were truly disappointed. The following issues, small as they were in some instances, combined to spoil our trip:-

Blu Restaurant Experience - Too many customers for too few tables. On too many occasions we had to wait to be seated despite the best efforts of the Maitre’d. Sommelier not to past standards, had a passing knowledge of wines only. Kept the wine glasses full but when busy struggled to keep up. Limited menu selection of 4 items only with 3 constants many times too similar to offers on day. Description on menu not a true reflection of food on offer eg. Soufflé heavy & stodgy, better description would be a dumpling. Seared Duck, skin hadn’t been near a hot pan only fit to be cut off meat & left on side of plate. Some food presented cool not hot. Have to say service was excellent throughout.

Speciality Restaurants - Qsine: Given a key table & then provided with blankets to stop freezing to death. Even when we were moved complete with blankets, it was still uncomfortable. Order of selections made was bizarre ie. Started with fish & chips followed by Escargot, followed by the largest meatballs ever seen (with unusual texture). Surprise Dessert, apple crumble (how disappointing).

Cabin Review

Aqua Class

Cabin A1

Cabin Service not as caring as in the past - On a couple of occasions our cabin was not made up until after 16.00. The bottle of complimentary wine never appeared. The floor tiles in shower were a mess & eventually had to be repaired (for the next guests, not us). A knife used remained on the coffee table for about 5 days & was still there when we departed. We had to ask for extra towels...........!,

Cabin temperature - Freezing & totally uncontrollable. Had to acquire a couple of blankets from on deck for bed. Problem! Room temperature set for Americans & for warmer climes. System set for maximum fresh air, minimum recirculation with room control a dummy controller giving little, if any variant (this comment is professional since my business designs & install air conditioning to various hotel chains). Had engineers change setting eventually & had them reset it again when we got to hotter climes. Many people complained about this issue.
