Sail Date: Mar 2018
Cabin: Verandah Stateroom

We decided on this Itinerary when we were looking for a cruise for my sixtieth birthday on April 11, and Koningsdam docked in Rome on that date! Perfect. We booked an AirBNB in Rome for a few days after the cruise as well. This was going to be a Great trip.

Booking:

We booked an inside cabin and at the lowest price offered. Our original cabin was an L category. There was a price drop right after the penalty cut off date. I called any way to see if anything could be done, We had booked directly with HAL and they were friendly and helpful when I called about the the price change. After some checking with senior managers the agent offered us a Verandah Guaranty stateroom for a $50 upcharge, the agent explained that the Verandah guaranty was for an obstructed view cabin or better, or we could have an Oceanview stateroom assigned for no additional charge. We chose the verandah guaranty. The final cabin we were assigned was #6155. This is an A category stateroom located midship. In our opinion this was a huge upgrade from the inside cabin for $50!!!

Cabin Review

Verandah Stateroom

Cabin VA

Our cabin was located slight aft of midship and on deck six in the middle of the stack of decks. We experience very little motion in our stateroom. There was an adjoining door, but we did have any issues with noise. Our cabin Stewards Gede and Ari were excellent. They always greeted us with smiles and by our names. The room was kept spotless and they were available but never intrusive. I had read complaints regarding the small bathroom and odd angles. This really did not pose any issue for us.
