The ship had been in dry dock for 12 days before we boarded, so we assumed it would be smooth sailing, it was not! Day one, the toilet didn't flush, the refrigerator was not working and was finally fixed after 2 1/2 days. The tioilet functioned intermittently, but was finally fixed after four days. Other passengers had no air conditioning for several days in 40C heat, some had no hot water in shower, no running water in hand basin, wet carpet, etc. The queues at reception were extraordinary, some waiting two hours to speak to personnel, no good phoning, they didn't answer. I am Elite member so the line was short but had to still waif. The decor of the ship was lovely. The food in Horizon Court was very good, lots of choices. we had dinner in the main dining room, the menu was aversge, but quality was fine. The staff were efficient, friendly and helpful in all areas, especially our stateroom attendant. However, I was most disappointed the cruise was a disaster for the first few days and may not cruise with Princess again.
Not a large cabin, but plenty of storage. Bathroom very small, but adequate. The beds were very comfortable.
Had a river cruise, lunch at a farm, visited the markets, a great day.
Visited the big Buddha by cable car, excellent views. The queues to board cable car were very lenghty p, priority given to tours.
Took the train $4 return, the station a few minutes walk from the ship, it was very clean, plenty of vacant seats. Hop on bus at the Taipei station exit $30, English commentary heafphones, about an hour. The tourist sights were crowded as another large cruise ship was in port.
Visited Osaka castle, interesting, but crowded. The grounds were lovely, but unfortunately no cherry blossoms, too late .
Visited markets, took rickshaw ride through the city.
