We chose this cruise because of the itinerary lots of islands and only one sea day, and as we had never ventured on a Marella (Thomsons ) ship before I researched it on here and found that the Discovery was formerly a Royal Caribbean ship, so was quite sure it would be a lovely ship. I was right! it wasn't too small (yes I know some people hate big ships but we like them ) and there was plenty to do or not on sea days.
The flight on the Dreamliner was one of the best long haul I've had, its a very roomy plane , not claustrophobic at all, extra leg room worth it but we are tall. Cabin was an outside window, never been as low down before level 2, but made it easy to return to when getting back on the ship!
The food was good, I am gluten free and very pleased to say there was an area with a gluten free sign at the buffet plus lots of nice salads had the GF sign at lunch time. Also afternoon tea every day, small GF scones with jam and cream and rolls (sometimes could be dry but I usually added some salad from buffet to counter this. The same biscuits all cruise so again the only minor niggle they could change it up slightly. Breakfast was perhaps slightly repetitive but when I said this this to a staff member three staff then came to my table at the buffet offering to make pancakes for breakfast the next day!
Good and kept spotlessly clean. Had a problem with air conditioning not working on arrival but was sorted quickly by the engineer.
