Unfortunately I didn’t notice that this was a ‘family friendly’ ship and unfortunately the families were definitely not friendly. Every meal we had there was a screaming baby nearby and the parents never attempted to stop them or take them out of the restaurant. There were children jumping into the swimming pool all the time despite the ‘No jumping’ signs.
The ship has a most peculiar layout with bars along the side of the ship and a nightclub in the centre of one part and a huge atrium in another – and everywhere there was loud pop music, dance music or modern jazz – there was music from 6 different venues which all merged into each other. There was constant movement past these bars all the time – I counted 60 people in 5 minutes so nowhere was restful.
The only place to sit without music was the library which has a total of only 14 seats so usually they were all occupied – and the librarian spent a lot of time noisily sorting out computer/e-mail problems. Even at 10.30pm there were children making a noise in this small space.
I always choose an inside cabin as I like darkness at night - not a flimsy curtain so you wake up at sunrise.
