Chose the cruise for the great ports of call. Was disappointed in the ship itself: casino smoke was pervasive - with no easy way to avoid it (huge 6th floor casino area) when going to either main dining room. Food was mostly very good - but sometimes did not match the menu description. Buffet always had a great variety. Entertainment was very good - if you could get a reservation or were willing to waste a lot of time in the "stand-by" line. Theater was sized for a ship half the size of Epic. Staff seemed under-trained: disembarkation was disorganized, small things like green tea were often unavailable in dining room, washcloths were not replaced. Our room steward was sick but still on the job; we both got sick too. Not sure they knew how to service a ship as large as Epic. This was the first time in over a dozen cruises that we could not wait to get home instead of wanting it to go on.
Must have been severe room budget cuts: sheets were worn thin, pilling and even had a hole. Lighting in inside cabin was abysmal. Toilet paper was like gift-wrap tissue paper. The sink is awkwardly positioned and hemmed in by a head-level mini-bar. Shower and toilet feature barely-frosted clear glass enclosures - lovely. A drawn curtain separates them from the bed and sink.
