I arranged this cruise and another on the Liberty later this month for several people from my Senior Pals club at church. I wanted to be able to introduce people to cruising and thought that they would prefer a short time at sea their first time. We had 5 cabins booked on this ship. For being an older ship, the Vision is very well maintained and the crew was very friendly. Our cabin steward, Clareen, was friendly and efficient and always stopped to chat.
We enjoyed our wait staff. My husband is a kidder and as our waiter, Wenyu, recognized this, he would dish it right back to him with humor but respect. The assistant waiter, Claudio, was quieter but efficient. We ate most nights at the early seating MDR as we like the continuity and the same company every night. It was helpful to follow the recommendations of our waiter in choosing the food each night. It is hard to get into the mindset of choosing dessert when initially ordering as the menu is now combined. Many items that I'm used to ordering are no longer on the menu but don't be afraid to ask. I like to end my meal with sherbet which is no longer offered but when Wenyu found out I was missing that, he made a special trip to Chops to get sherbet for everyone at the table.
We did arrange to go to the Chef's Table on formal night which was a treat as always. There were only 6 people in attendance in a dedicated, beautiful room off the MDR. It was an intimate, delicious experience of 6 courses with matching wine pairings. It was a similar menu to what we had on the Freedom last fall but, although the dessert was delicious, I missed the chocolate world that was served on the Freedom.
I loved our cabin as it was mid ship and in an interior hall away from the regular traffic. It was very quiet and we felt very little motion as it was lower in the ship.
