PreCruise flew to FLL from LAX on Jan 1. Stayed overnight at Hilton Marina, an adequate hotel for a precruise stay. It was cold and windy upon arrival. We walked to Bimini Boatyard for a late dinner. When we returned to the hotel we noticed my husband's one dress jacket had a very large stain on it apparently from a spray suntan lotion that was in a plastic bag inside the suitcase. so much for formal night. The next day we walked to get bagels and coffee and went to Publix and Total Wine. While walking back to the hotel my husband's backpack opened and there went one bottle of wine on the ground. Embarkation We checked out and took a cab to the port for an 11:30 embarkation. My FIL had been sitting in Platinum lounge for 2 hours--what a nut. After we checked out rooms both obstructed we made our way to the dining room for lunch. Several staff members insisted it was not open and to go to the buffet, but of course it was open and not busy. Room E229 obstructed view a bit far forward for my taste but a good view nevertheless. The first sea day we had our CC meeting in Skywalkers. It was small but we were lucky to have the Cruise Director and the Captain attend. We planned a Wine tasting for the next sea day. Weather Not very cooperative, bouncy seas, clouds and cold. Happily, we made it to all our ports. Grand Cayman The captain pulled around to the south side and we tendered to Spots Bay where many cabs were lined up to take us to town. It wasn't much of a beach day, very windy. Roatan Another cloudly cool day so we stayed at Mahogany Bay. We took the chairlift to the beach, did some snorkeling and stayed on land as long as possible. The area is very nice, there is ziplining available, lots of chairs, well landscaped and the shops are the usual. Cozumel We planned to take the ship's excursion to Passion Island but it was cancelled due to the wind conditions. We ended up at Paradise Beach. Although the first hour we were wrapped up in blankets, the wind died down enough for them to but out the trampolines and other water toys, the beach filled up and the sun came out. Ended up being a very nice day. Sea Day We had a wonderful wine tasting in the afternoon. I recommend this as an activity for other cc groups on a second sea day.We were lucky to have 2 Elite members who arranged for a very nice set up at Skywalkers. Entertainment This was my third cruise on Crown and my ninth on Princess so I am pretty tired of the production shows. The entertainment was mediocre at best. Food Typical cruise food. Did take advantage of the coffee card. Self Disembark--not very organized but was able to get off the ship, find a cab in the pouring rain and make it to FLL by 8am for a 9:45 flight. All in all, I need a rest from Princess, its getting a little tired.
