MSC Seaside Cruise Review by cafrock
- Sail Date: April 2018
- Destination: Caribbean
- Cabin Type: Fantastica Balcony Stateroom
The ship is beautiful, which I expected, as it is brand new. Our cabin was spotless and very comfortable for two adults (we actually had three cabins for our party of six). We were very happy with the services provided by our cabin steward, Maskur.
We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, especially in the dining room. The buffet offerings were extensive. Yes, there were a few things we didn't care for, but there were plenty of other things to choose from. We looked forward to our dinners each evening - our waiter Angelo and assistant Donna were great. We had prime rib one night that was so tender you could cut it with your fork.
The theater shows each night were outstanding - we were blown away by the caliber of the performers. Cruise Director Steve was very entertaining, as were the BeerProv shows. As far as other activities go, we enjoyed the trivia and other game shows, but were not impressed by the craft activities.
Shore excursions - we LOVED the Flavors of Jamaica excursion and would highly recommend it to anyone who likes cooking or is interested in local cuisine. We did not enjoy the Jeep and Snorkeling excursion in Cozumel, mainly because the tour guides, although friendly, did not adhere to any kind of schedule, resulting in us having no time to shop and having to practically run to get to the ship on time.
One last point that was remarked on in another review concerning the drink coupons that are a part of the Fantastica package - we had absolutely no problem with using them throughout the ship.
In conclusion, based on our experience, we would highly recommend the MSC Seaside. We will definitely choose MSC for our next cruise.

Chacchoben Mayan RuinsEnjoyed this tour. Buses were comfortable, water provided coming and going. Tour of ruins was very interesting. Shopping at port in Costa Maya was very good - wide selection, plenty of time after excursion to shop.View All 345 Chacchoben Mayan Ruins Reviews
Jeep TourOverall, we were disappointed. Not really anything to see on the long jeep ride to the snorkeling beach. Big piles of dead seaweed all along the beach. Buffet lunch was fair. Biggest complaint was that tour guides did not keep to any kind of schedule; as a result we had no time to shop and had to run to reach the ship on time.View All 133 Jeep Tour Reviews
Star Fish PointWas expecting to see numerous starfish of multiple varieties - saw about 7 or 8, all the same kind. Boring.View All 23 Star Fish Point Reviews
Stingray SwimEnjoyed it, but too many boats/people in a very small area.View All 724 Stingray Swim Reviews
Ocho RiosAbsolutely LOVED it! Tour guide Donovan at the plantation was hilarious. View from the back veranda of the plantation house where we cooked and ate lunch was gorgeous.
