Explorer of the Seas Review

EOTS = Extra Ordinary Time [at] Sea. Yay!

Review for the South Pacific Cruise on Explorer of the Seas

First a caveat – we’ve cruised before though this was our first ‘big ship’ and first ‘South Pacific’ cruise, and we kept our expectations wide open – all opinions are personal and based purely on our one recent ‘7 Night South Pacific’ trip on Explorer of the Seas.

Also – as all cruisers know, you must suspend all cynicism and judgement and just go with it on a cruise… so I’m not going to comment on the exuberant late-night revelers, the volume of cheesy crew jokes and outfits, too-many budgee-smugglers on the pool-deck, or the fact that the ship moves and yes you can feel it – because it’s all par for the course. I will briefly mention a frustration with kids on-board – not the number [despite being school hols and an on-board dance-event] – but the all-hours crazy loud behaviour and lack of consideration for other guests we saw from many young passengers. But that’s all I’ll say.

For us - the big surprise was that Explorer OTS did not feel like a big ship with thousands of other passengers – we never experienced any trouble getting a seat by the pool, at a bar, the Windjammer buffet, or in the theatre. There was never too much of a queue for food or drinks. The crew were attentive and remembered our names and preferences.

Cabin Review

Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

[as in full review]...

We had a balcony cabin on deck 9 – the room was well appointed, clean and bright. However we were disappointed at the lack of a real fridge [only a cooler that didn’t seem to be remotely ‘cool’ let alone ‘cold’] and the balcony is proportionally small – exacerbated by quite large outdoor furniture – I have bruises from bumping into it [yes, sober].
