We chose this cruise for the unusual itinerary from Abu Dhabi to Singapore via India and Sri Lanka. We had some reservations about using Celebrity Constellation due to previous negative reviews which described the ship as showing signs of age and being 'tired'. These fears were unfounded as the cabin, public areas and restaurants had obviously all been renovated and were in fine condition. We chose 'anytime' dining in the main restaurant and this worked well on most evenings with just 2 occasions when we had to wait for a table (with pager) and just one occasion when service was very slow. The quality of the food was excellent with a good variety of menus throughout the cruise. We just ate once in the Italian restaurant and this too was excellent though the supplement charged was rather expensive
Entertainment in the main theatre was average cruise fare . The young singers and dancers were very talented but some of the material used was strange. One particular production show was like a mock pantomime and pretty atrocious. The other solo artistes were generally good except for one impressionist who was poor (several people left during the performance). The best act was Bayne Bacon (comedian/pianist) who was exceptional. He also took part in 'The Wedding Game' game show but there was not enough of this type of entertainment.
The cabin was well laid out with good wardrobe space and adequate en suite facilties. The service from the cabim steward wa excellent.
We had just one night in Khalidiya Palace Hotel before the cruise. The hotel was excellent. We took taxi to the Sheik Zayed grand mosque and had free guided tour which was excellent - a truly amazing experience.
we had private tour arranged through CC of local area including grand mosque, Sultans palace, Opera house and souk. Very interesting.
Had previousy arranged tour with Muziris heritage tours which gave an enligtening insight into Mumbai local life. The visit to the laundry was particularly memorable.
Another tour with Muziris Heritage tours including trip on houseboat on back waters of Kerala. Very good tour with delicious meal served on board.
Private tour arranged with 4 other CC members through Aiken Spence travel to Agro village in Bandaragama. This was like a virtual Garden of Eden and included tea, rubber, pineapple, cocount and rubber plantations plus short tour of Colombo city. Very enjoyable tour.
Booked ships tour Phang Nga Bay. This was generally enjoyable but involved a 90 minute bus ride each way.
We arrived at cruise terminal early a m and used Porterexpress service to keep luggage and deliver it to airport that evening as we had a late flight home. We walked to MRT station (500m from cruise terminal) and took train to Gardens by the bay which were amazing. It was easy to take MRT to airport and our luggage was delivered on time.
