Let me say first of all I really have no reason to complain, as we won this cruise on Celebrity by entering a contest. But we had always heard that Celebrity was a top of the line cruise line, boy were we surprised! I an not trying to put Celebrity down, but this cruise was sub par as compared to other cruises we have been on.As i say we won the cruise and have to reason to complain. We arrived at Port Everglades Fl porters were very efficient and took care of our luggage, I parked our car in the garage next to the ship. We entered the port and started paperwork, lines were long, but once we got through security the rest did not seen too long.We had an inside room on deck 8, we found the room clean and average for inside rooms. The contest we won had concerts and parties each night of the cruise so we were assigned late dinner seating. The first night we went to the dinning room and were shocked at what we were served. I started with a shrimp cocktail, which consisted of four of the smallest shrimp I have ever seen lying on a leaf on lettuce and my wife got the escargot which consisted of what looked like a plastic egg crate and the snails were so small she had to fish around with her fork to find them in the butter garlic sauce, We both ordered a NY strip steak and when it arrived it was paper thin and full of gristle we were shocked as dinning room food on other cruise lines have always been great. As we were in concerts until 800pm we decided to go to the buffet so we could eat fast, my wife got a piece of pork and mashed potatoes with gravy, the pork was hard as a rock and she could not eat it. We found that the buffet served the same food night after night and they would close half the buffet after 800pm. We later found at the aft part of the ship a place called Chef special where you order a steak, hamburger, pork chop or hot dog and you wait while it is cooked to order this was the only place on the ship to get hot dogs or hamburger after 800pm as the pool grille closed after 700pm or so. The deserts were great looking but tasted bland.

Now for the bars, the only bars we had time to use were at the pool. At times we had concerts at the pool and there was one small bar on the starboard side with one bartender and one small bar with a fol out table as a bar with one bartender on the port side, and the main pool bar attended by two bartenders Once in a while you might catch a server walking around and order a drink and get it 15 to 20 minutes later. I went to the pool bar during these pool concerts and ordered a bucket of beer to prevent waiting in line. Each night I ordered a bucket of beer it was a different price on each night of a seven day cruise and the price steadily went higher in price each night.

The Summit was very clean and seaworthy and the crew were very helpful and provided great service. Our room steward was the best we have ever had on four previous cruises. The food was sub par for a cruise line that was supposed to be top of the line. Again I know this was a free cruise for us and many people love Celebrity, and maybe it you are in Suite class it is better, but for us we will not cruise Celebrity again number one because of our experience on this cruise and we most likely could not afford Celebrity in the future.

Cabin Review

Cabin inside cabin deck 8 concierge

Our cabin was 8019 on deck 8, which was Concierge class, but this only got us on the ship a little earlier than some. The room was about average for inside cabin rooms. It was very clean and our room steward was great he kept it spotless. It is located forward and has easy access to elevators and stairs. It has plenty of storage and an average size bath room for inside cabins. It has a fold out couch for a third party if necessary. A full mirrored wall behind the bed to make the room appear larger. The bed was comfortable, but it is two twin beds pushed together to form a queen size bed.
