Well, Our trip had its pros and cons. We think Princess is losing its ability to provide quality to its passengers. The placing of our cabin was good . . .so close to Horizon Court and the Vista Lounge and our dining room, Amalfi. But I discovered a pillow that had a terrible odor and the cabin steward switched it out which was good. Also we had odors coming up from the sink drain and toilet . . .we didn't complain but heard other passengers complaining about this also. I think the Star Princess is an older ship and maybe it's plumbing needs an overhaul. We liked the entertainment onboard for the most part. We have been on about 16 cruises with Princess and we have never complained about the food. But this time we felt the food was not very good. I love fish and I ordered it about 4-5 times in the dining room and I had to send it back for something else! The fish was not fresh, overcooked . . .just disappointing. Then there was a storm off of Oregon . . .we couldn't get into the port of Astoria and there was a lot of rocking and rolling for two days. I ran into a passenger that said she does not go to the casino or play bingo and she noticed there were not any lectures onboard or good movies to see . . .there was one movie in the Princess theater . . .otherwise, the movies were offered outside and the weather was not good for the most part. I wanted to alert future cruisers that the port of Nanaimo was not good . . .there was nothing there! We overheard that this port is only visited 6 times a year with cruise ships . . .otherwise they go to Victoria which we would of liked. I think from now on we are going on other cruise lines like Viking and Royal Caribbean. Princess is not to our liking which saddens us. Someone said Carnival bought Princess which could be a factor in why it has gone down in value.
