Cruise 2018: Spirit of Iberia cruise (https://www.tui.co.uk/cruise/itineraries/Spirit-of-Iberia-055604) on Marella Celebration from Thompson, 8-16 April 2018.

My wife and I took this cruise as our first experience of this type of holiday and as a special treat for our 30th wedding anniversary.

Getting There & Arrival

Cabin Review

Cabin Outside

Our cabin was generously sized given the size of the ship. The ensuite bathroom was fine, the bed comfortable and storage space more than adequate. Another power socket would have been useful though and what appeared to be a ships announcement speaker didn't work.

At night, engine room vibration pervaded the cabin and quickly became annoying. Along with the very rough seas we encountered, this made sleeping quite difficult.

We also experienced a leak of engine exhaust into the fresh air system which was very noticeable and very uncomfortable for a time. No adequate explanation was given.

Our cabin steward was excellent; always cheerful, efficient and helpful.

Port Reviews

Malaga

We just spent a few hours around Malaga centre on the morning of our last day. Weather was beautiful and Malaga is a lovely city, plenty to see, friendly, clean, spacious and with an excellent and cheap shuttle bus from the port to the city centre.

Cadiz

Cadiz is a small city, very walkable. Pretty, clean and spacious with some lovely sights. Would like to visit again as part of another holiday but don't think it's strong enough as a destination in itself. The port is very close to the city centre.

Casablanca

Casablanca was a bit of a disappointment. Shabby, dirty and market sellers all over you if you even looked at anything, pestering and badgering. We did though make a decent bargain for a beautiful silk and cotton tablecloth.

The Hassan Mosque is very impressive and worth a visit though it sticks out in stark contrast to the surrounding area.

Rick's Cafe is worth a visit too, though a little expensive.
