To be positive. Single cabin very clean. Medium sized bed. It also seemed to be good value for money for a single cabin (prior to boarding). No tips. Good and friendly cabin "porters". Negatives. Cabin decor dismal. Small. TV poor. Low deck. Bad noise and awful vibration from the engines; especially in port. This vibration affected the whole ship but because these single cabins are lower in the decks affect was much worse. I can only describe it like sitting on a washing machine. I was told (by customer service) this should have been pointed out at the time of sale - it was not! In fact, it was sold as a single cabin with external porthole e.g. outside.

Reception/Customer Service was dreadful. I offered to pay for upgrade (of course this would have depended on value) given the manner of vibration I said I would sleep in the lounge if I wasn't given a change of cabin. Despite offers to review this I was effectively ignored and even when given deadlines for resolution none were forthcoming after 24 hours and I had to chase. Was told that rooms were full. Fortunately, the vibration was not as violent when the ship sailed and I did get more accustomed to it; but not good enough. I asked to speak to the reception manager and the staff effectively blocked this. I am sure the manager had told staff not to put complaints through to her. Ineffective manager. Probably afraid of dealing with complaints and, thus, pushes these to her staff. One central american girl was very good and tried her best but the rest ineffective.

As a single traveller, I rely on the activities to meet other people. On other cruises, there have been choirs, dancing, crafts and daily single meets. Fantastic holidays for single people. On this cruise there were none (one line dancing class; one singles meeting in front of reception and I was the only one who turned up. Nobody asked me why I was sat there alone by reception staff so I left). Most of the activities were expensive tours; and mainly sitting on a coach. I did go on one horse riding tour in Menorca which was fantastic. I do not enjoy evening cabarets and tend to relax in my cabin in the evenings; what a joy given the ambience etc. of the cabin as described. The weather was not good enough to sit on deck so I was in my room from 7/8 each evening.
