This is our fifth cruise on Viking... the fourth on the Viking Star, and we love the ship. The service is excellent; the food is wonderful; the tours are well organized; the port talks and enrichment lectures are informative and interesting. The ship is in excellent condition and the crew is top-notch. Embarkation and Disembarkation are quick and painless. We highly recommend either having Viking take you directly to the ship from the airport or else take one of their pre- or post-extensions where Viking handles all the transfers for you. Transfers are relatively expensive if you do the transfer on your own.

We like the smaller ship size -- 930 passengers...why would we book a ship that is larger than the town where we grew up?

There is no extra charge for eating in any of the dining rooms, including the gourmet dining room, and wine or beer is served at lunch and dinner. High tea is served everyday from 4 to 5 pm, and it is excellent.

Cabin Review

We were concerned that we would feel claustrophobic when we cruised the first time 2 years ago, so we booked a suite. We were hooked and have booked a suite each time since. We enjoy having 2 TVs, a living room with a desk, and a large deck. The cabin steward has been so attentive, looking after our cabin several times each day. Laundry is included with a suite, so the steward takes care of laundry delivery for you. He/She also is sure you have everything you need. Yes, they spoil you!
